AIIMS Delhi

All-India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) was established in 1956 in Delhi by an act of Parliament as an autonomous institution of national importance. It was established with the following objectives:

To demonstrate a high standard of Medical Education in India
To bring together in one place educational facilities of the highest order for the training of personnel in all important branches of health activity
To attain self-sufficiency in Post-graduate Medical Education

Research at AIIMS

At AIIMS research is not just a routine activity but rather a mission to create new knowledge. Like other places, the primary purpose of research is to gratify curiosity by disciplined activity. AIIMS is also aware of the role research can play in improving the quality of teaching. It firmly believes that a well aware and up to date teacher engaged in research can bring about great improvement in teaching quality. Finally, research at AIIMS is apart of our national endeavor to cultivate a scientific temper and to eliminate from our society the way of authority and superstition.

Research Areas in AIIMS Delhi

There is a wide variety of research activities at AIIMS. On one hand it is engaged in sophisticated investigations in neurosciences, genetics and on computer simulation of hormone-receptor interaction. On the other hand, it also undertakes clinical and epidemiological studies on the prevention and treatment of national health problems.
