As a teacher, you need to have a Bachelors in Education (B.Ed) degree. Colleges across the Delhi offer Bachelors in Education (B.Ed) degree. At post graduate level that is at Masters in Education (M.Ed) level you can do specialization. For Nursery and pre school teaching, along with a graduate degree, a diploma or Certificate in Pre-school teacher education programme of a duration of not less than one year, or B.Ed is required. Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.) or Diploma of Elementary Education (D.El.Ed.) is mandatory for teaching at the primary level.
To become a teacher in the College and university level in Delhi, one does not have to undergo any formal teacher training but have to qualify for National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA) in behalf of University Grants Commission (UGC). The minimum qualification to apply for NET is a post graduation degree.
