A candidates applying for JMI B.Tech Full Time Courses must atleast be of 17 years old as on 1st October of the year the student sits for the entrance examination.

Jamia Millia Islamia B.Tech Full Time Courses educational qualification

The educational qualification of a candidate who wish to apply for JMI B.Tech Full Time programme is that he must have passed the intermediate, 10+2, the Senior Secondary School Certificate or any equivalent examination with physics, chemistry and mathematics as the core subjects from a recognised Board. They should atleast secure a minimum of 55% marks in the PCM.

Jamia Millia Islamia B.E. (Part Time)

The Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia also offers a Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) evening program. All working people who have a Engineering Diploma can apply for JMI B.E. (Part Time) Programmes. The timings for the evening classes are 6:00 p.m. to 9:15 p.m. from Monday to Sunday and on Sundays the practical classes are held during daytime.

Jamia Millia Islamia B.E. (Part Time) Engineering Eligibility Criteria

The students should fulfill any one of the following eligibility criteria for admission to Jamia Millia Islamia B.E. (Evening) degree courses in Engineering:

A 3 - 4 years engineering diploma from a technical institute or polytechnic with a professional experience of minimum two years after the diploma.
For admission into specifically B.E. Computer Engineering branch the students should have 3 – 4 years diploma in Computer Engineering (or other applicable branch) or Electronics & Communication with a work experience of two years.
Students should have a diploma from Jamia Millia Islamia with a minimum of 70 percent marks and without any professional experience.

Jamia Millia Islamia B.E. (Part Time) Engineering Selection procedure

The admission to B.E. courses is based upon the entrance test and work experience (40 marks). The total marks for the test is 130 with time duration of three hours. The medium for the entrance exam is English.

Hydraulics and irrigation engineering (20 marks): Physical properties of liquids. Pascal's law, centre of pressure, total pressure, surface tension, discharge through channels, types of irrigation systems, flow irrigation, flow equations.
Transportation engineering (10 marks): History, highway alignment and surveys, sight distance, traffic characteristics and studies, traffic control, hill roads, highway drainage and maintenance. Railways, bridges and tunnels.
Environmental engineering (10 marks): Sources of water, water demand, drinking water standards, plumbing terminology, water borne diseases, sewerage systems.
Surveying (15 marks): Calculation of area, chain surveying, sprit leveling and leveling instruments, Compass surveying, tacheometry, plane table surveying.
Soil mechanics and foundation engineering (12 marks): Soil classification, effective stresses, soil exploration, field identification, SPT and dynamic cone penetration test.
Design of structures (25 marks): Concrete technology. Water-cement ratio, properties and ingredients of concrete, RCC beams, properties of types of steel, design methods, beam IS specifications, design of purlins and joint of trusses. Types of trusses and their applications.
Analysis of structures (25 marks): Stresses and strains. Elastic constants and their relationship, bending of beams, cantilever moment diagrams, stress and strain in pure torsion. Three moment equation.
Engineering mechanics (13 marks): Law of forces. Centre of gravity; triangle, parallelogram and polygon law. Motion, acceleration and velocity. Work, power and energy.

Jamia Millia Islamia Engineering Diploma Program

The Jamia Millia Islamia University offers Engineering diploma under the name of Jami Polytechnic or University Polytechnic of Jamia Millia Islamia, to all those students who wish to pursue a three-year diploma in various engineering disciplines. The entrance test is held for admission to these programs.

The candidates must be not less than 15 years of age as on October 1st, on the year he/she sits for the entrance examination.

Jamia Millia Islamia Engineering Diploma Full Time Educational Qualification

The students must have passed senior secondary school certificate or Intermediate examination scoring 45% marks in aggregate with Science and Maths, or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the core subjects (not bio-science) from a recognised board.
The students must have passed secondary school certificate or High school, scoring atleast 40% marks in aggregate with Science and Maths, or Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as the core subjects (not bio-science) from a recognised board.
The students can also have a certificate which is equivalent to senior secondary school certificate or secondary school certificate from a recognized institute or senior secondary school certificate in vocational engineering scoring atleast a minimum of 50% marks.

The entrance exam duration for the Engineering Diploma Full Time is three hours with a total marks of 170. The division of marks has been done as follows:

Generally the entrance exam questions are of the secondary school and English is the only medium of language to answer the question paper.

Avogado's law, STP, ideal gas equation, diffusion. Rutherford's experiment, postulates of Bohr's theory, chemical equation, colloids and suspension, oxidation and reduction. Periodic classification of elements, gradation of properties, strong and weak electrolytes. Metallurgical processes, combustion of hydrocarbons.

Physics
Scalar and vector quantities, laws of motion, mass and weight, sound wave characteristics, laws of reflection and refraction, lens formulae. Electric current, Ohm's law, Coulomb's law, electric power, nuclear fission and fusion, chain reaction. Distance and displacement, resolution of vector, addition and subtraction of vectors.

Mathematics
Linear equations and their application when using two variables to solve simple problems. Quadratic equations and solutions through quadratic formula and factorisation, system of linear equations in two variables, solution by algebraic method. Theorems and congruence of triangles, Pythagorus theorem, trigonometrical ratios of angles. Collection and presentation of data.

Jamia Millia Islamia Engineering Diploma Part Time

The Jamia Millia Islamia University offers three-year part-time engineering diploma program in various disciplines under the name of Jamia Polytechnic or University Polytechnic. The University holds an entrance test for admission to these various diploma engineering programs. The classes for these courses are held daily except on Sundays from 6 pm to 9:15 pm on Sundays the practical classes are held during daytime.

The students should fulfill any one of the following eligibility criteria for admission to JMI Engineering Diploma Part Time courses

The candidates must have passed class 10 examination or secondary school certificate with science and mathematics as the core subjects and must also have a two-year certificate from JMI, ITI or any other equivalent institute that is recognised.

The candidates must pass the secondary school certificate examination with science and mathematics as the core subjects and along with that must also have two relevant work experiences.

The Jamia Millia Islamia University holds an entrance examination for admission to the Diploma in Engineering (Evening) courses. The total marks for the test is 130 with duration of three hours. 40 marks is added for the candidate’s professional experience.
